Welcome to the FAQ’s
Booking:
Q: When should I book my session?
A: Session spots are limited so it is best to book nice and early, while you’re still expecting. The best time to have your maternity session is between 28-35 weeks and the best time to photograph your newborn is between 7-21 days after birth.
Q: Can I wait to book my newborn session until baby arrives?
A: This is not recommended as we have limited availability and do book up quickly. We can only guarantee your session if it has been secured with your session/retainer fee.
Safety:
Q: Will my baby be safe in a studio?
A: Our studio is a private space, we do not accept walk-ins and no other clients are scheduled during your experience. We also space our clients out, leaving an appropriate amount of time to disinfect all surfaces. Additionally, we wear masks during your newborn session as an extra precaution.
A: Kayleigh has been trained by an industry leader of Newborn Photography, who is also a licensed Kinesiologist. Kayleigh is an Accredited Newborn Photographer, meaning she has been judged by a panel of her peers to ensure she is taking the correct precautions in newborn posing. Additionally, she use’s composites in photoshop as well as a spotter/assistant to ensure the safety of your precious baby at all times. Babies should never be balanced on hanging props or left unattended to support themselves, EVER. It is strongly encouraged to ask any potential Newborn Photographer’s what training they’ve had and what precautions they take. Do not be afraid to advocate for your baby if you see something that makes you uncomfortable. Many claiming to be professional Newborn Photographers have not had adequate training.
Pricing:
Q: What’s included with the session fee?
A: Session fees include our time, talent, private studio space, props, gowns and more for the duration of your experience. Products, including digital portraits, are purchased separately. Please carefully look through our investment page as it does state starting prices for digital files and other products.
Q: Why do I need a consultation before I book?
A: An over-the-phone consultation is the first step in booking your session. This give you the opportunity to schedule a dedicated time to chat about yourself, your family, your desired look, discuss your investment, the process and for you to ask all the questions. There is a non-refundable $25 fee for this service which is deducted from your service/session fee upon booking. We can’t wait to chat and plan your session!
Q: Why are digitals not included?
A: Shooting is truly only part of the experience and really the only one that a client see’s. So it’s helpful to know why Professional Photography is an investment. The bottom line is digital portraits are considered our “master files” or our “negatives” and purchasing a digital collection allows you the freedom to print as many times as you want, wherever you want, without having to print through our studio. In addition to this, the investment for digital portraits, is based on our cost of doing business vs. average sale. These factors include, employee salaries, pay rises, bonuses, taxes, professional licensing & insurance, continued education, professional associations, professional independent contractor fees, ever rising rent & utilities, advertising and marketing, maintaining and purchasing new lighting, camera & lens equipment, ever growing need for backups & storage for digital images, maintaining and growing our props, backdrops & wardrobe, investments in clients gifts, lab costs, credit & debit card fees, subscriptions, hours invested into editing images from each session and much more.
Q: What is the pricing?
A: The investment guide is provided to you in full prior to booking your session. We’ve chosen to keep our full investment guide off our website to prevent theft of our intellectual property, which has over a decade of hard work invested in developing a pricing structure that works best for our clients and studio. Our typical client investment is approximately $3000+.
Q: Are you open to negotiation, collaboration or lowering your price?
A: No. Although we do love them, at the end of the day, we cannot pay our bills with social media likes. Additionally, we do have to be fair to all of our clients who trust and value our work and give us credit willingly. However, we do offer special gift credits which we’d be happy to speak with you about.
Q: Do you offer discounts?
A: Yes, a few! We love to reward our current, and new clients, when they make referrals that end up booking a session. We also offer a special discount when booking both a Pampered Maternity Session & Newborn Session, as well as a discount for product prepayments and a discount when purchasing two products that are exactly the same. Please inquire for specific amounts. We do not offer cash discounts and keep all payments on the books to protect you and our studio.
